St. Peter's Church

里加 ,Latvia

St. Peter's Church was built in 1209. It was once the largest wooden church in Europe and also a church that suffered many disasters. According to records, a fire broke out in the church in 1721, and Peter the Great personally directed the firefighting. The restored church was destroyed again during World War II. It was not until the end of the war that it was renovated and the wooden structure was changed to a metal structure. The church is a typical Gothic building. Whether it is the walls or the towers, they become more exquisite and decorated as they go up. There are sharp spires on the top that pierce the sky. This is the highest point in the old city.
